There is virtually no formal requirement for them to justify this. I am not personally worried. It is the long-term principle and implications that distress me. I am certainly not the first person to comment on this. It is well-documented elsewhere.

So various agencies of the government are able to regularly watch what we say, type or take note to, without our knowledge or permission or without approval by a judge based on probable cause. Personal freedoms can be limited by the government simply declaring you supposed terrorist actions.

“Liberal” has become meaningless. It’s just as stupid as “African-American” or “Black.” It was originally the term for people who believed in laisez-faire capitalism and small government. Now it means leftist. People don’t usually pay attention to the etymology of the marks they apply to themselves.

Look at all these comments from people claiming that “liberals” are always being offended. Tho I’m tempted to say both sides get offended easily, I reckon conservitards have the thinner skin. After all, initiatives for healthcare equated with Nazism? The fuss of Barack Obama’s middle name? Bringing guns to a rally with the pres? Shouting at the head? But don’t blame only the liberals for this mind-set. I hear lots of mean and dismissive, belittling attitudes from persons that call themesleves “conservative.” (Se some in this forum too.) What do these terms mean anymore? And as to one party government, that is what we have been having with the Republicans, with a couple of breaks in between. Bush forced the Homeland Security fascism upon us, sardonically moving in the Nazi direction.

Thanks. For what it’s worth, the music in the introduction was excellent, and it was well produced. It was just when Dave Barry was speaking that it was distracting. He was the focus, anything taking away from that reduces the impression of him and what he is saying.

This is contradictory. If they are fascist, they can’t be liberal. If someone is liberal, they could not have fascist thoughts. People who want to call themselves liberal need to evaluate their attitudes and see if they are repressive or liberating.
