Most politicians are lawyers. Thus, after you get your undergrad degree, you go to law school and get a law degree. Then your chances of making it in politics is a lot higher. Their degree is in a field related to politics such as economics or law. International relations is so difficult a field in which to find work, that it is not worth the effort. Good luck.
