Why do you democrats want to silence free speech with the fairness doctrine?
Schumer, Pelosi, Reed аnd others аrе promising a fairness doctrine іn February. Obama wіll hаνе tο sign іt.
Whаt’s more vital: Free speech οr government restricted fairness οf thουghtѕ?
They sure silenced Glenn Beck before this election.
Free Speech of course. Where did you hear this? Do you have a link?
we don’t really have free speech anyways. I can’t just go around terrible mouthing people and saying that junk.
Under the Obama regime government will control everything!
Well that is why the founders gave us the 2nd Amendment. It is the last line of defense for preserving the 1st.
The bill is designed to prevent a single media conglomerate from monopolizing the airwaves – and thus have unfair influence over broadcast opinions.
read up on St Reagan shredding the Fairness Doctrine in the first place. It’s just a coincidence that the FD went away in 87, the SAME year buttrush limbaugh rose to prominence?
Must be fun to live in your alternate reality.
Free speech……….
Kind of terrifying isn’t it?
Because all us Democrats are freedom-hating, anti-Israel, pro-terrorist, pro-socialist, baby eaters who despise America. Geez – don’t you take note to Rush?
How does the fairness doctrine interfere with free speech?
I reckon that’s one of the first things Obama and his cronies will pass. It’s aimed at talk radio where conservatism lives. Anyone who has a differing opinion Obama will want to shut down.
I completely support the fairness doctrine due to the airwaves being publicly owned. You want to preach lies and spin only? Try the Internet.
Because in the war of thoughts, Pols and Reid know that they can not win. As with most Liberals, if it is not the way you reckon it ought to be, then it must be restricted and then eliminated.
you have no clue what you’re talking about.
Media ownership is segregated to the wealthy. Know any poor people that own media outlets.
Also, during the deregulation years of McCain and Bush media ownership has consolidated with even fewer people in control.
Rupert Murdoch us currently in violation of media ownership policy meant to curtail this consolidation and that is why his “news” station has been so favorable to the Bush administration.
Hopefully, we will go back to the policy as they were before. Media consolidation is very perilous.
What’s amusing is that the McCain camp has been squealing about unfair coverage but this is the media landscape that they made.
We have freedom of speech to a certain extent, like when we are at home sorrounded by our four walls hahaha and no one is listening but your cat or dog….But if I go and initiation speaking my mind and expressing my thoughts at the top of my lungs anywhere I would be in jail, and probably be told what I can and can’t say and where I can say it. This is not freedom, that’s a load of bs, we have to stay on so many policy and set of laws it’s unreal. The rich get richer the poor get poorer it’s a different more subtle form of comunism!!!
Because they want to censor the content of privately-owned radio stations and eliminate persons with opinions different from their own. Don’t all socialist countries do this?
Free speech is more vital than censorship.
Free speech, descent are protected under the first admendment. Now one way to look how the Democrarts are trying to use the Fairness doctrine is control talk radio. Control the market of thoughts. But could the Democrats run afoul with thier version of the fairness doctrine? Yes. If they try to muzzle or silent aptly. Why? Becouse the news media companies like NewsCorps and others could challenge thier doctrine in court under the first admendment.
Free speech and descent have always been a huge part of the US democracey.
