Dutch Islamologist about Islam and Fitna

This discussion is being held as a review of Geert Wilders’ film Fitna (at the Paul & Witteman-show), and the dhimmitude way in which the gouvernment warned and apologised to muslim countries all over the world, instead of defending free speech. At the moment the insane Christian Dutch gouvernment, to which any religious values are better than none, has arranged for Geert to be trialed for ‘damaging muslims’ integrity’. To watch Fitna: www.clipser.com Hans Jansen is a Dutch Arabist and Islamologist, and used to teach at Utrecht University. Representing the leftists are Alexander Pechtold, leader of the left-liberal party, Ahmed Aboutaleb, the mayor or Rotterdam, and Tofik Dibi, a Maroccan parliamentary representative of the anarchist-socialist movement called GroenLinks. I tried to subtitle as well as possible, so please keep that into consideration.

When will Yahoo do something about the damned politics section?

This isn’t a damn forum, it’s Yahoo ANSWERS, not Yahoo-Political-Hate-Speech. You’re supposed to pose serious questions, instead 99% of the questions and answers in this section are nothing but hateful spam, propaganda and attacks.

Whom else is sick and tired of all the BS back and forth attacking in the politics section? It’s obvious people have their minds made up and will never agree.

How do I become more knowledgable about politics?

Earlier on here someone asked a question about the political views of teenagers, and I was reading through the answers and people were saying about political parties and health care and liberal and conservative and all…and I realized I’d never really bothered to educate myself about political issues. It makes me feel stupid. Even when I watch the news, it’s all Greek to me.
So how can I learn more about politics so I can form my own educated opinions about stuff?

A group of Pastors is preaching politics today, challenging the law that gives them tax exempt status for refusing to do so. Should their churches lose that status? Do you believe it is the place of religious leaders to tell you how to vote?

How do I become more knowledgeable about politics?

I am 16 years old and I don’t know the first thing about politics. Whenever I read the newspaper or watch the news and they’re talking about politics, I have no clue what they’re talking about. However, I WANT TO know what they’re talking about, but I don’t know where to start and I want to be able to have an intelligent conversation with someone about politics in the future. How do most people become knowledgeable about politics? Do you think if I read the newspaper everyday, it would start to click? Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

What is it about religion and politics that evokes so much passion and anger?

You pretty much can talk to a person about anything, but when it comes to religion and politics…watch out! It’s never takes long for the conversation to get heated. Seriously though, what is it about these two topics that evoke more passion and anger from people than most others?
