We won! This video from CBS shows a part of the Couric video that didn’t air on TV. It shows Biden first, getting the same questions as Palin and handling them just fine; then Palin comes on and can’t even name a Supreme Court decision she disagrees(or name a decision at all) In June 2008 the Supreme Court made a decision that adversely affected all citizens of Alaska directly when they cut the Exxon-Valdez settlement to 500 million from 2.5 billion. Four months ago! This woman has a 1 in 5 chance of becoming President if McCain gets elected. Vote Obama!

Anyone know the name of this case that went to Supreme Cort about free speech?

I only remember it vaguely, but it was a case that possibly went to the Supreme Court about a 15-17 year old boy who wrote a speech, as he or a friend was running for class president (?) But the thing was, his speech was terribly inappropriate and insinuated sex? Thanks for any help
Also any ideas on where I can read the speech?

What Supreme Court case incorporated 1st amendment free speech & free speech to the states?

I know that the case Near v Minnesota was used to ensure that states did not use prior restraint in preventing the press from running an article prior to is printing. I am not sure if this is the proper answer to this question as I don’t believe it effected free speech.
UPDATE- The bill of rights only extended its protections against laws passed by congress. The fourteenth amendment was what extended these protections to state governments, & even then only certain aspects of certain amendments.
Their WAS a supreme court case that resulted in the incorporation of 1st amendment free speach & free press.
