Where can I find good information about early United States politics?
I am getting fascinated on the early politics in the United States (roughly from independence to 1820 or so), where there seemed to be deep disagreement among different factions (say, Hamilton vs Jefferson) along with the difference between different colonies and the influence / fights with France and Britain.
What are some good sources (books, online, etc.) to learn more about that part of the history?
What impact has our gigantic information network had on politics?
We now have C-SPAN, 24 hours news feeds on TV, websites for every politician and or government entity. Politicians use twitter and face book to let people know their every move. Is all of this information doing us any good, or are we receiving too much information? Are we we becoming desensitized? Are we being overloaded and focusing too much on politics?
I was looking for an objective answer to my question, not a politically biased view on whether or not one station or another is broadcasting the truth. Please stick to the question.
