How does a government bailout work for major corporations? Where are the $700 Billion dollars coming from?

So I understand what money is and where it comes from, now I just want to understand how a government bailout works for major corporations. Is this money simply printed and being brought out of thin air to be later paid off by taxpayers? I want to know in what ways will bailing out a major corporation benefit anyone besides the corporation itself.

I want to be an attorney. I am highly interested in both politics and philosophy. Which should I major in?

I know that I can basically major in anything and still go to law school, but I want to either major in politics or philosophy due to my passionate interest in both.

I think there are too many people relying on government assistance that abuse it and stay on it longer than needed to get back on their feet. I never, ever see anything in the news about welfare reform. Why won’t the government do anything about it?

Their latest step, announced earlier today and reported by the Associated Press , will be to begin monitoring seven major websites including Google, Yahoo and Amazon as well as all out banning 17 smaller sites.
